  2.     Behold, mortal, the origins of Hack Lite...

  4.     The original HACK was written by Jay Fenlason with help from Kenny
  5.     Woodland, Mike Thome and Jon Payne.
  6.  
  7.     Andries Brouwer did a major re-write and published (at least) two
  8.     versions (1.0.2 and 1.0.3) to the Usenet.
  9.  
  10.     PC HACK 3.61 was an MSDOS(tm) version of HACK 1.0.3.  The PC
  11.     implementation was done in Microsoft(tm) C by Don Kneller and
  12.     modified by Ken Arromdee.

  14.     Amiga HACK 1.0.3D was an Amiga version of UNIX HACK 1.0.3. The
  15.     Amiga port was performed by John A. Toebes, VIII, with the
  16.     assistance of other members of the Software Distillery.

  18.     Hack Lite v1.0.0 was a merged version of PC HACK and Amiga Hack,
  19.     created by Alan Beale and John Toebes, incorporating many
  20.     performance and playability improvements.

  22.     Meanwhile, in another part of the dungeon, Mike Stephenson and Ken
  23.     Arromdee created NetHack from PC HACK and UNIX HACK, incorporating
  24.     many modifications and features made by the above, as well as the
  25.     following honored hackers:

  34.     developed by Alan Beale from Hack Lite v1.0.0 and NetHack 2.2, and
  35.     will surely remain the last word in hackery until v3.0.0.

  37.     Version 1 of the HackInstall program was developed by John Toebes.
  38.     HackInstall, version 2, and HackConfig were written by Jim Cooper.
  39.     The HackInstall archive extraction code was based on code by
  40.     Yooichi Tagawa.  The HackIcon utility was written by Doug Walker.
